Thursday I got home from school and the last thing I wanted to do was to pick up my books and start to study. So Seb and I decided to walk the High Line down and go to Chelsea Market

This is a funny sign we have behind our building. You can actually hear the dogs barking at night.

Our building! We live in the apartment in the left corner.

They have these nice bird feeders and sometimes when you are lucky you actually see the birds. We were unlucky yesterday.

We are looking at people that are looking at traffic.

Chelsea Market has this really nice map when you enter.

Hi Seb!

We went and looked at different sea food.

And at fancy cookies that you don't want to eat.

Finally we reached the 'normal' grocery store were we actually could buy something.

Mini Kiwi! We didn't buy them because they were so expensive, but aren't you curios!? And then we walked home and eat the free bread we got at a bakery. A nice ending to our thursday.

The NYC style move.

We packed all of our stuff and dragged them down the two flights of narrow stairs. I can't believe mom and Annelie managed to carry them up there! Three huge suitcases that way over 20kg a piece, two smaller bags on wheels, a back pack, a messenger bag, a guitar, a blue IKEA bag and then about 6 other bags filled with stuff we couldn't fit in the other bags. It's needless to say that we have way to much stuff with us.

Anyway, there we were standing on the sidewalk trying to find a cab. Taking the subway was unthinkable considering how many times we would have to go back and forth. I was sceptic that we would fit everything in to a cab. They have three sizes of cabs that I have seen here in NYC. First the small regular one that you see in all the movies, then they have this 'new' urban jeep style one that is everywhere now. I can't remember seeing one the last time I was here 2 1/2 years ago. And then we have the van style cab. A rarity, but that we really needed right now. After about 15 minutes we finally saw one and Seb did that arm-wave-thing and it pulled over. The driver of course had a bad back, so we (Seb) had to shove all the bags in himself.

5 minutes later and $6 poorer we arrived. Unloaded the van and there were all our bags on the street again, just a different sidewalk. Now came the real challenge. Our new apartment is on the fifth floor. And yes you guessed right. NO ELEVATOR. So it was just to carry all the bags inside and then start one at a time up the 10 flights of stairs. It's exhausting just walking up those stairs anytime and now carrying, or more like dragging, one bag did not make it easier. We got a good workout out of it.

Tuesday night.

So I survived my first day at a american university. It was easy! Just presentations about our self and our goals for the class, and then we of course got the long list of supplies we need to buy. If anyone of you don't know what to get me for my next birthday I have plenty of stuff figured out now. Luckily for me the pattern making class and the sewing class have a lot of the same items.

I started off with Fashion art and design with a really nice professor who laughed at himself all the time. He has a deep laugh that sounds similar to what I have imagined Santa having. I think that class will really encourage me to draw more and help me find a way to express myself in my drawings. We are going to learn the basic proportions and helpful tools to give every drawing the same look.

My evening class in pattern making started of very slow. Our professor came in a little bit late and we hadn't bought any of the supplies yet so the only thing we did was to measure our mannequin. Is it called mannequin? The torso body shape that you fit your pattern to any way. I got J 16, a size 8, a wolf model. What ever that means.. What completely threw me of was that we measured in inches. It hadn't really occurred to me that we weren't going to work in centimeters so of course I had to do the whole thing over again. The inch system is a little bit weird I think.. It doesn't seem right having it divided by 8.

Tomorrow we are gathering all of our stuff here at the ear and try to pack it into the bags it once got here in. Moving day! Then I have classes between 3-9.20 pm. So we'll try to get all of our stuff over to the new apartment and then Seb can unpack when I'm in class.

Now a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory before bedtime.

Oh by the way it was Spring here to day. I even wore sunglasses.

Apartment - Check!

We found a apartment! It's small but smells nice, is clean and two blocks from school! We had looked at two apartments prior to this one and didn't want to get our hopes up. The hall way smelled nice even though it was carpet. 5 floors up with out a elevator and STEEP stairs. Nice view of the High Line and some industrial area. Probably one of those buildings you walked by Sara (read: Lindberg) and thought; 'Who could live here? People can just walk by and look right in to you livingroom?'. But it's actually quite ok. And yes mom, it was the one you saw with the purple bedspread in the listing...
